Sunday, March 27, 2011, Pawleys Island - A casual fund-raiser at Frank's Outback in Pawleys Island will have visitors riding a wave of food and fun.
From 3-7 p.m. today, the public is invited to come help raise money for the Atlantic Surfing Federation. The owners of Frank's, Salters and Woofie McClary, have three daughters who surf competitively.
The afternoon's food will include barbecue with all the appropriate sides, hot dogs, oysters on the half shell "and much more."
There'll be children's games and live entertainment, and people will have a chance to have their photos taken while "riding a wave" and create their own tie-dyed ASF T-shirt. Attendees are invited to wear their ugliest board shorts for a judged contest, and a live auction and raffles is offering prizes such as a Beach Cruiser with a surf rack, surfing vacation beach home rentals, jewelry, surfboards, hotel stays in Virginia Beach and Nags Head, professional photo sessions, a skateboard deck, surfboard wrap and many area restaurant and retail gift certificates.
Frank's Outback is at 10434 Ocean Highway, and the number is (843) 237-3030. Admission to the ASF fund-raiser is $15 for adults and $5 for children.
